The Re-Tuning Simulator uses Typical Meteorological Year (TMY3) data sets which provide a reasonably sized annual data set that holds hourly meteorological values that typify conditions at a specific location over a longer period of time, such as 30 years.

TMY3 weather station distance is calculated using the haversine formula which determines the great-circle distance between two points on a sphere using the center point of the zip code.

Models can use any of the 5 nearest TMY weather stations, with the closest station initially selected as the default for the model.
